One of the senior most producers and distributors of 120 films via Veenus Movies and proprietor of Sharada Movies CVL Shastry former President of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce died late on Thursday night.

CVL Shastry was President of KFCC for a period of 1988 to 1992 hails from Ramanagara. He was responsible for making Apex Body financially strong.  In his regime as KFCC President the Cauvery Issue afflicted International Film Festival was held. He came to Bengaluru as land developer and in partnership he produced ‘Kalla Kulla’.

He is the producer of Pakka Kalla, Hennu Huli, Aseya Bale, Malaya Marutha (one of the finesse musical films) are some of his film productions. ‘Malgudi Days’ television serial for Doordarshan of late Shanker Nag was produced by CVL Shastry.

Akila Karnataka Dr Rajakumar Abhimani Sangha was evolved in his leadership and he was honorary President. CVL Shastry was also connected to the Akila Karnatka Brahmin Association. CVL Shastry formed Skytop Builders that was successful developer in Bengaluru and Mysore.

The annual Dadasaheb Phalke Academy recognition was bestowed on CVL Shasty in 2008. R Lakshman and Smt Parvathamma Rajakumar also received similar recognitions in the past. The award for CVL Shastry was presented by Hindi cinema romantic hero Rajesh Khanna.
